Which Mattress Would You Choose?
If you had your choice of any mattress at all, and price was no object, which mattress would you choose? First, you would probably want to know what all of your options were, and so below we will list and explain the several types of mattresses that are already in the market place.
- Innerspring mattresses: These mattress types have been around forever, and are the most well-known. These are the kind that children like to jump on because they have springs in them. The advantage to innerspring is that they can be mass-produced and they are relatively cheap. The disadvantage to these mattresses is that the springs can wear out and there is a lot of transfer of motion between sleeping partners.
- Pillow top mattresses are similar to innerspring mattresses, but they have a top layer that is filled with wool, down feathers, or some other filling. The advantage to pillow top mattresses is that they are softer than firmer mattress are, and they don’t have as much transfer of motion. Depending upon what they are made of, they can be more insular. One drawback is that they can become caved in after a short period of time from sleeping in the same spot every night.
- Latex Foam Mattress: These mattresses are quite heavenly. They take pressure off of trigger points, and help the sleeper rest with their spin in alignment. Natural-made latex mattresses are hypoallergenic. Latex is breathable and can help you sleep warm in winter and cool in the summer. Not many drawbacks to latex except the price tag is a little steep.
- Water beds: water beds can make you feel like you are sleeping on something exotic. Some people like the feel of gentle waves as they change positions. But, water beds are more of a novelty than of a really comfortable experience. The water temperature needs to be regulated, and it can be a hassle when you have to repair a leak.
- Memory foam mattresses: memory foam is a great material to alleviate pressure. Many people swear by memory foam to help them regulate pain that they have in their back, neck, shoulders, or other body parts. One drawback, though, is that they can sleep hot, and some feel people say they feel like they are sleeping in quicksand.
There are other mattress types, but these are some of the most common. Which one would you choose?
